Our Programs

In 1881 Assistant Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven Connecticut, Fr. Michael McGivney, gathered a group of men in the Parish to address the needs of fatherless families in the Parish Community. The group officially formed the first Council in early 1882, choosing Christopher Columbus as their Standard Bearer. The Knights have grown to include more than 2 million members worldwide.

Our Founder, the Blessed Reverend Michal McGivney was Beatified October 31. 2020. Worldwide the Knights donate millions of dollars to humanitarian causes, locally the Holy Family Knights Council are involved in dozens of parish functions each year: Lenten Fish Fry – Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast – Fall Festival – Easter egg hunt, to name just a few. Following Fr. McGivney’s cornerstone Principal of “Charity” our Knights of Columbus Council supports a number of charities with annual and one-time donations:

Must Ministries – Habitat for Humanity – Cobb Special Olympics – Pro-Life Ministries, and many others.

Our Council recently donated an ultrasound machine to First Care Women’s Clinic. The machine will soon be placed, Blessed, and put to use. With the generosity of our Council membership as well as the Parish Community we were able to send over $5,000 to support Ukrainian refugee resettlement efforts. Our Council’s charitable donations exceeded $51,000 this past year. In today’s dollars, since its inception in 1989 the HF KOC Council has donated approximately 590K to charities.

Our fundraising events would not be successful without the dedication of the men of our Council.
